The new trailer for Batman v Superman is evidently not new at all – YouTube says it was published over six months ago – but it was new to me. At any rate, this film, which I had dismissed as a one-trick pony, is now looking much better than it has any right to be. If Ben Affleck can just learn any facial expressions besides grim & jaded, we’ll be good to go.
Meanwhile the Onion explains how caucuses work. A caucus, for those wondering, is “a system of voting for people who wish casting a ballot could be three hours longer and include being lectured to.”
And in actual (I hesitate to say “real”) politics, Cruz and Trump have made Jeb Bush seem positively sane by comparison.
At the gathering at Manchester’s Alpine Club, where Bush fielded questions from voters, he also advanced an establishment outlook: Republicans are about governing well — not just expressing anger.
Imagine that.
Have a stick-it-to-the-Man kind of weekend. You know, if you want to.
I would be 100% not interested in the Batman/Superman movie, except that I am curious to see how they handle Wonder Woman. People — certainly including me — complain about how women have been presented in the Marvel movies, and I am looking forward to Captain Marvel, but Wonder Woman is Wonder Woman. Marvel doesn’t have an equivalent.
(Plus, she’s played by Gal Gadot, who has big cred with me because she was Gisele in the Fast and Furious movies 🙂 )
Yeah, Wonder Woman’s probably the main female superhero who is actually a hero in her own right, and not a female version of someone else, like Supergirl or Batgirl. The X-men have some in that category too (like Jean Grey and Storm) but none of them are standalone characters.
I haven’t seen any of Jessica Jones yet, but from what I hear (and from the trailer I watched), she seems promising.
I’m definitely interested in Jessica Jones, too (but, so far, not interested enough to actually watch any of it).
I do hope that they go full-mythological with Wonder Woman — I recall that they did a half-science-fiction thing with Thor in that movie. I say go all the way.
Oh, and there’s this. 🙂
